Here’s a quick guide to help you understand each field when creating a product:
General Details
- Name – The name of the product. This is required when creating a new product.
- SKU – The Stock Keeping Unit is a unique product code used to identify and track inventory. This field can be left blank—if so, the system will automatically generate a code for you.
- Type – The product type (e.g., regular item, bundle, or service) is set in the system's settings page.
- Attributes – These refer to variations of a product, such as color, size, or flavor. Attribute options can be pre-set in the system's Settings page or created instantly by typing them directly into the option field when adding a product.
- Supplier – Indicates the source of the product. Assigning a supplier helps with tracking purchase orders and managing supplier-related reports.
- Description – An optional field where you can enter additional product details for reference or internal notes.
- Barcode – A machine-readable code that contains product information. Useful for faster checkouts and inventory scanning.
Pricing
- Cost – Also known as the buying price. This is how much you pay to acquire the product.
- SRP – Suggested retail price is the price at which the product is sold to customers.
